Kalohi Channel

Key Fact: ʻAuʻau, Pailolo, and Kalohi channels are different environments.

The Kalohi Channel separates the Hawaiʻian Islands of Molokai and Lānaʻi.  Channel crossing times for this channel demonstrate the lowest variability among the Maui Nui channels and tend to hover around 5 hours.  Kalohi is often sporty when prevailing winds are up, giving the swimmer a chance to body surf on the way toward Lānaʻi.  Wait for low winds when attempting to swim toward Molokai.

Current can bend the swim course in any direction.

Here the swimmer had to crawl over sharp coral in low surf to finish.
